Eleye Boerenkamps (b. 1994, The Netherlands) participated at De Ateliers program from 2018-2020. Her works are foremost propelled by her personal relationships, everyday observations and her autobiographic archive. In assembled sculptures, diary-like wall objects, films and photographic prints the social and personal reality of the artist are reflected and constructed from memories and collected imagery in the studio. The use of familiar and everyday materials underlines the straightforwardness of how the work is made. Her artistic practice is characterized by the persistent attitude with which she uses her private life as material. In the works she visualizes the limitations of herself, her environment and society in tender and harsh ways. Both the internal reality of the artist herself and the external or shared reality in society are accessible through the works.
