BIOGRAPHY
Ruben Raven (1995) is an multidisciplinary artist who's installations of paintings, ceramic and mechanical designs observe how relationships between humans, objects and material unfolds. He channels these interconnections into collections that exhibit behaviors and questions people's unconscious creative capacity.
Fragments of forgotten memories are trapped into everlasting ceramic vestiges which are testimonies of our desires and which project moments of both contemplation and abandonment. The work intricately ties in the implication of value and our penchant to judge of the significance of things and projects the emotional impact of collecting or discarding them. The afterlife of things and their fantasy finally traces back up to a regeneration.
Ruben Raven was born in Almere, 1995 and is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He graduated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, in DesignLAB in July 2020 with his graduation project ‘They waited patiently but without a vestige of sympathy’. This project is nominated for the Ron Mandos Young Blood Award 2020. At the end of November he will exhibit a project currently still in development in a group show at Josilda Da Conceição Gallery, Amsterdam.
