Quintus Glerum
Christos Mavrodis
Christos Mavrodis and Quintus Glerum are visual artists with distinct backgrounds, united by a shared interest in narrative. This exhibition represents their exploration of narrative through a spatial interpretation of a character study. Both artists have previously created individual works from the perspective of fictional characters—examples include Life of Lucy and Kiki’s Wonderful Little Worlds. For them, the process of crafting works through a fictional lens often serves as a means to process and reflect on their personal experiences.

In their first collaborative exhibition at Josilda da Conceição, Mavrodis and Glerum reverse this
approach by reflecting on the use of fictional characters together. This shared creative endeavor,
expressed through various media, complicates the interplay between fiction and reality. The character emerges as a shared construct, shaped by the convergence of two distinct perspectives.
The exhibition features a collection of collaborative works, ranging from paintings to video game
simulations, that blur the boundaries between the fictional character and the chosen mediums. Through this approach, the artists not only question the ownership of creative work but also explore the tension between fiction and reality, challenging conventional notions of authorship and narrative.
