This exhibition is a collective approach towards the different views of disciplines and necessity that we are using in the art world. We want to invoke the context to the indisplinairy approach of the indualistic practice. The artists that are on view propose an intervention instaging and questioning the different media of image/material. This exhibition is their own manipulation of reality together with their own unique background and nationalities that come to translate in their works.
Philipp Zrenner (1995, DE)
A multidisciplinary working artist in the fields of sculpture and painting. Born in Munich he started studying media arts in 2015. Through the fields of documentary films and other interdisciplinary works he now finds himself
in the three dimensional working practice. Appearing themes in his artistic practice are things out of urban contexts which are then putten into new scenarios.
Maria Vashchuk (1985, UA)
Born in 1985 in Kiev, the Soviet Union, in the family of modeler of men’s clothes and accountant. Spend the childhood in the Soviet House of Models of Kiev and different ateliers where my father worked. As an only child in the family had space for my own world of imagination. From craftsmanship focused on the texture of fabrics, styles of clothing, the interest in design has developed. On the other hand, drawing was used in designing and, above all, the basis for the painting. Psychology study was more than a 'rite de passage.' The study itself, university teaching, a Ph.D. research lead to a psychology practice that was transposed for some time as an online advisor after moving from Kiev to the Netherlands. In a teaching position and outside of it, communication and connection, organizing of joint activities were recurring elements. It seems that psychology as a profession has already faded into the background, and art has been brought to the fore as autonomous and applied. Connection and communication may have a chance in curatorship and the forms of teaching. The emphasis mainly illuminates the work in the studio with an as yet modest presence in the Art World — a fairly rapid international network (Australia, United States, Canada) for the designs.
Geraldos dos Santos (1993, NL/BR)
In Santo’s work he deals with dreams and memories, and it does so in a narrative way. It depicts the mundane things that surround us - the things that are, connected to certain images, or objects, or places, might represent one's own subconscious being, or it might trigger melancholic mental spaces. Santos is interested in addressing the viewers' personal memories by corrupting their readings with his images.
Challenging them to make use of their own experiences. His large scale paintings display compositions of parts of found momentums, and aim at provoking a glitch in the viewer's consciousness. With a palette that undoubtedly qualifies as attractive colors, and an image that qualifies as vulnerable, or maybe even tormented, a contrast is established that functions as a barrier between dimensions. His work aims at having the capacity to make viewers reinvent their own memories within circumstances of familiarity.
Marjolein Witte (1979,NL)
A painter and installation artist. Her works stem from an interest in framing space and applying rules to our environment. Territorial behaviour and the relationship between man and nature are recurring themes in Witte’s oeuvre. She explores our self-constructed reality through architecture, spatial planning and all kinds of forms with which we lead ourselves through the world. Within the different media Witte uses the value of colour, shape, contrast, size and space as a symbolic act.
Bart Stolle (1974, BE)
Working on a complex body of work that mainly consists of paintings, drawings and animated fims. In an age when everyone is being overwhelmed by sensory, and more specifically digital stimuli, Stolle opts for lentor. Low Fixed Media Show is the name of his body of work and it functions as an advertising agency for himself or as an alternative entertainment company. His paintings and drawings consist of carefully selected and often geometrical units. He analyses similarities between the logic of the computer and the human mind, but he is convinced of the superiority of the human intelligence.
His films have been made frame per frame. Simple basic shapes and lines are moving over the screen and undergo typical basic transformations. Many of his works formally refer to twentieth century modernism as well as computer language.
